The State Department recently announced that registration for the FY 2007 Diversity Visa [“Lottery”] Immigrant Visa Program will run from October 5, to noon on December 4, 2005.
Applications can only be filed by e-mail. Complete instructions can be found on the State Department website: travel.state.gov Individuals from high demand countries are not eligible [eg: Mexico, China, India, UK, Canada]. However, there are “cross-chargeability” provisions allowing spouses of individuals of eligible countries to apply. If selected, the individual must satisfy all admissibility requirements [no disqualifying criminal record or inability to fulfill medical and financial requirements]. If an individual is selected, he or she must demonstrate attainment of a high school or equivalent education. Therefore, there is no point for young children to apply. The Josephine Gagliardi Law Office has the technological capability, including digital photograph equipment, so as to ensure a proper filing. However, no attorney or agency can make any claim to improving the odds of selection. Only one application per individual is permitted. If selected, the winner’s spouse and unmarried children can also immigrate as derivatives. |
